Alabama and Tennessee not only compete on the gridiron but annually on the recruiting trail as well, such is the case with LaVerne, Tennessee prospect Maleik Grey, who recently named the two schools in his latest Top 3:
Top 3 in order 4 Maleik Gray: 1 #FSU 2. #Vols 3. #Bama. Tide surging some. More updates: https://t.co/mAlstxGC1w @CNee247 @RyanCallahan247

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Grey is listed as a four-star athlete prospect and the No. 55 overall player in the nation by 247Sports Composite Ratings. Aside from his three favorites, Grey also holds offers from Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC and UCLA among several others.
Grey has long been a big time target for Florida State but recent visits from Crimson Tide coaches as well as a trip to Tuscaloosa has Grey thinking hard about joining the SEC’s most elite program under Nick Saban.

But you can’t rule out Tennessee at this point either, as Butch Jones has been known to win recruiting battles over nearly every elite recruiter in the nation and has a way of stressing the importance of in-state players to sign with the Volunteers.
Don’t be surprised to see the recruitment of Grey go down all the way to National Signing Day 2017.
