In the end, it was all about staying home for Isaac Nauta.
The Buford, Ga., native, once a verbal commitment of Florida State, chose Georgia at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday. He chose the Bulldogs over his other two favorites: Alabama and Michigan.
Nauta is rated as the No. 1 tight end and the No. 9 overall prospect in the Class of 2016, according to 247 Sports.
The 6-foot-3, 244-pounder had been offered by a laundry list of elite programs, but ultimately chose Georgia, who he officially visited back on Oct. 3.
New tight ends/special teams coach Shane Beamer, who was hired on Tuesday, is obviously pumped about the commitment and the future of the Dawgs in general. Here’s what he had to say on Twitter after the All-American Bowl.
If this is the way we recruit when @KirbySmartUGA works 2 jobs I CAN'T WAIT to see what we do when he's here 100%!! #CommitToTheG
