Former Alabama star Tua Tagovailoa scored his first touchdown in the NFL on a pass at the end of the first quarter in a game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Tagovailoa completed a third down pass to Devante Parker over the middle for a 3-yard completion in the end zone on the final play of the first quarter. Tagovailoa kept the ball as a souvenir, and was congratulated on the sidelines by former Clemson star Christian Wilkins, who made an interception to setup Miami’s first scoring drive.

Tagovailoa started the game 5-for-9 for 34 yards, although he also had a sack and lost a fumble early in the game. Tagovailoa was taken to the ground hard by 6-time Pro Bowler Aaron Donald, and lost the ball with just over 3 minutes played in the 1st quarter.

It was a big day for Tagovailoa, who arrived to the stadium and paid homage to his Hawaiian heritage with clothes and jewelry representing his native state.

The Dolphins drafted him No. 5 overall, and set in motion a path for Tagovailoa to become a franchise quarterback. Before the Miami bye week two weeks ago, it was announced that Tagovailoa would be the starter, and he gets his first chance today. The Dolphins are 3-3 and looking for their third straight win.
