One day after Elijah Holyfield appeared to make the 53-man roster for the Carolina Panthers, the former Georgia running back learned a different fate — he was cut.
Holyfield left Georgia a year early to test the draft waters, and while he didn’t get selected in the 2019 draft, he now faces an uncertain future with Carolina, or another team, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reported. Since Holyfield was on the tightest of bubbles, he made a solid impression to team executives and others during the preseason. So he should have an NFL future of some sort, it’s just a matter of sorting out when and where.
Holyfield’s reputation is as a tough runner, and he made a name for himself at Georgia despite playing alongside talented teammates like Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and D’Andre Swift.
Per team, Elijah Holyfield and Kevon Seymour were also cut this morning, along with Torrey Smith.

If Elijah Holyfield clears waivers, he can come back on the practice squad. I believe that he would have to wait until tomorrow, so initial set practice squad may be fluid.
