Transfer Portal U: Alabama basketball has four players in the portal following Avery Johnson’s departure
At this rate, Alabama is going to have trouble fielding a basketball team next season.
Following the news that Kira Lewis has entered the NCAA transfer portal, Lewis averaged 13.5 points and 2.9 assists per game for the Crimson Tide last season, his teammates John Petty and Daniel Giddens have both joined him by adding their name to the portal, according to multiple reports.
Sophomore Petty averaged 10.2 points per game while the junior Giddens averaged 1.9 points per game for the Tide. If all four players leave the Alabama program, the Tide would be losing the team’s leading scorer and assist maker (Lewis), as well as the leading rebounder and shot blocker (Donta Hall has run out of eligibility).
Dazon Ingram has already announced he was planning on leaving the program this week after making 93 starts for Johnson’s Alabama program.
Good luck to the new Alabama hire, it looks like he’s going to need it.
