Auburn safety Tray Matthews has some recovery and rehab to complete this offseason.
According to a report from AL.com’s Brandon Marcello, the Tigers defensive back recently had a surgical procedure on his right shoulder.
He was spotted at an Auburn basketball game on Saturday with his arm in a sling, which prompted the revelation of the injury.
Marcello reports that an Auburn spokesman expressed that the Tigers football staff was “hopeful” that Matthews could return for spring practice, which is slated to begin in March.
Matthews played in 10 games during the 2015 season and started seven games. He’s expected to start as a rising junior in 2016.
