Mitchell led the team in points and rebounds. Antonio Reeves, Rob Dillingham, and Adou Thiero also scored in the double-digits for the Cats.
The well-traveled Mitchell figures to play a big role for the Cats in the 2023-24 season. Kentucky is the 4th different school Mitchell has played for after starting at UMass before transferring to Texas and, most recently, West Virginia.
Last season for the Mountaineers, the forward averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Mitchell helped lead the Mountaineers to an at-large bid in the 2022-23 NCAA Tournament. The Mountaineers fell to the Maryland Terrapins in the 1st round.
The Wildcats have 1 more exhibition game, playing against Kentucky State on Thursday, November 2. After that, the real season begins. The Wildcats will tip off against New Mexico State on Monday, November 6.
The Cats start the season against New Mexico State and Texas A&M Commerce before playing the Kansas Jayhawks in Chicago in the State Farm Champions Classic.
