Tre’Davious White has become a key player for the Buffalo Bills’ defense since being drafted No. 27 overall out of LSU in the 2017 NFL Draft.

But, ahead of the 2022 season, White is working his way back from a torn ACL that ended his 2021 campaign.

Speaking with reporters, coach Sean McDermott said White is “on schedule” in his return from the injury, although he’s starting training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list (via Pro Football Talk):

“He’s on schedule,” McDermott told reporters regarding White. “He looks really good. He’s working his tail off. And Tre is a consummate pro. So that has not changed. We’re excited to get him back when we can get him back.

“He’s on schedule with what the trainers are telling me he’s on schedule. I think he’s got a great look in his eye. I know what he’s working back towards. And really other than that, that’s all I can say.”

White suffered the torn ACL on Thanksgiving night against the New Orleans Saints. His 2021 season ended with him recording 41 tackles, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble and 6 pass breakups.

Will he be ready for Week 1? That remains to be seen, but as the Bills get training camp started, White is still a while away from getting back on the field.
