Trent Dilfer and the UAB Blazers fell to 2-2 on the season after losing to Tennessee, 56-24, on Saturday. The Volunteers got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.
After the PAT on that drive, redshirt senior Sirad Bryant showed his frustrations with the game. He started talking back-and-forth with punter Jackson Ross, and then cleated kicker Max Gilbert.
He was penalized for the play, but he was not ejected. After the game, Dilfer addressed the situation, saying his player will be disciplined.
“I’ve seen an Instagram video of it, I’m not happy with it,” Dilfer said after the game, per Rocky Top Insider. “I want to get the full video of it and he will be disciplined because of it.”
That wasn’t the only controversial moment for Dilfer during the game, as he was seen taking pictures on his cell phone during the game. However, Dilfer addressed that as well, saying his daughter is about to have a child, and he wanted to show her the atmosphere.
For the Blazers, playing a team the caliber of Tennessee is always going to be a tough matchup. However, having to answer so many non-game questions is something that Dilfer doesn’t want to deal with.
UAB will be off next week, and will be back in action on Oct. 4 against Army.
