Alabama’s defense produced some big highlights in the 2016, but, arguably, the most iconic play was Jonathan Allen’s “Superman sack” of Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight in Week 8.

At the College Football Awards in Atlanta, Knight was asked by AL.com’s Michael Casagrande to describe the play from his point of view.
“It all happened so fast, but that moment felt like slow motion,” Knight said. “I know we had enough protection. Our back went to cut and he just flew over the guy. It felt like he was flying through the air forever. Incredible play. That’s why he’s here. That’s why he’s one of the best in the country because he makes plays like that. Not only that play, but week in and week out.”
Knight acknowledged the bright future ahead of the player who posterized him.
“I’ve been on a couple posters with him since that whole Superman deal, but tremendous player,” Knight said. “Really enjoyed competing against him and he has a really bright future ahead of him.”
