Trevor Mattich expecting big things from LSU’s offense in Brian Kelly’s first season
The Brian Kelly era at LSU begins tonight with a high-profile game in New Orleans between the Tigers and Florida State.
Kelly has had success wherever he’s been, including a 92-39 record at his most recent stop, Notre Dame.
More specifically, Kelly is regarded as one of the top offensive minds in the college game, and his teams have been tough to stop through the years on that side of the ball.
And according to ESPN college football analyst Trevor Mattich, you can expect that trend to continue in Baton Rouge sooner than later.
“The first thing you’ll see is on offense,” said Mattich on SportsCenter when asked about what to expect from Brian Kelly and LSU both against the Seminoles tonight and in 2022. “Wherever he has been … the offense has always been outstanding if he’s had a mobile quarterback and good receivers. And at LSU, it’s one of the best receiving corps in all of college football.
“He hasn’t named a starter yet (at quarterback) between Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier, but he’s got a history of getting the best out of his pieces and there are terrific pieces in Baton Rouge.”
