Nick Saban shares the latest Alabama injury update in anticipation for the Citrus Bowl

The injury bug really bit the Crimson Tide this season and that continues to be the case looking ahead to the team’s upcoming Citrus Bowl against Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan program.
During his latest media availability to open Alabama’s bowl practice, Nick Saban shared injury updates on three players that suggests all three could miss Alabama’s upcoming bowl game, starting with freshman defensive lineman DJ Dale.
“DJ Dale has not responded very well to treatment and medications to try and get him in a position where he might be able to play, he is doubtful and we are going to explore other protocols to get him better,” Saban noted on Monday evening.
Dale flashed in his first training camp with the Tide and became something of a rarity in Tuscaloosa as he earned a starting role on Saban’s defense as a true freshman entering the season.
The injury news was a far more optimistic when it came to junior tight end, Miller Forristall.
“I think Miller Forristal probably has a good chance to come back and play in the game, just depends on how he responds to the activity and the contact,” Saban added.
Finally, another true freshman update, as Alabama fans have been patiently waiting for the return of running back Trey Sanders to the lineup after he was injured turning training camp.
“Trey Sanders has been cleared to do on the fieldwork but we do not feel he’s a guy that’s going to be ready to play in the game,” the Alabama head coach shared.
That doesn’t sound great for Sanders, as he could probably really use the work during practice, but considering how well Najee Harris is playing heading into the postseason, Alabama may not need Sanders to beat Michigan this bowl season.
