Trinidad Chambliss delivers legendary drive to give Ole Miss lead over Georgia
Just when Georgia thought it had Trinidad Chambliss cornered, he made a big play.
And then he did it again. And again.
The sequence started early in the fourth quarter as Ole Miss faced a 2nd and 11 in its own territory. Chambliss appeared to be on the cusp of taking a big sack when he flipped his hips toward the sideline and pitched the ball to running back Kewan Lacy for a modest gain.
On the very next play, Chambliss found Lacy in even more spectacular fashion. After escaping pressure by rolling back nearly 30 yards behind the original line of scrimmage, Chambliss floated the ball to his running back again, wide open, for a first down.
Chambliss’ biggest play came last, however. Rolling to his right, Chambliss perfectly layered a pass over a Georgia defender into the arms of Ole Miss receiver Harrison Wallace for a huge gain.
Ole Miss went on to score a touchdown on that drive and made the ensuing 2-point conversion to take a 27-24 lead over the Bulldogs. Here’s a clip of Chambliss’ pass to Wallace:
If Ole Miss wins, it would advance to face Miami in a College Football Playoff semifinal.
