Lane Kiffin and the No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels are off to a strong 4-0 start! This weekend they prepare to host the No. 4 LSU Tigers. One of the standout stars that has been driving this Ole Miss offensive Juggernaut has been none other than former Ferris State transfer Trinidad Chambliss. In just two career starts against Arkansas and Tulane, Chambliss has captured attention with his impressive performances.

Now he has earned recognition as one of the eight quarterbacks named to week 4’s Great 8 by the Davey O’Brien Foundation after an outstanding performance where he completed 17 of 27 passes for a staggering 307 yards and 2 touchdowns, alongside rushing for 112 yards on just 14 carries (averaging 8.0 yards per carry) in a decisive 45-10 victory over Tulane.

Now his name is officially added to the Davey O’Brien awards mid-season watch list featuring a total of 57 members. Chambliss joins an elite group of quarterbacks this week, including Marshall’s Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, TCU’s Josh Hoover, USC’s Jayden Maiava, Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, Oregon’s Dante Moore, Virginia’s Chandler Morris, and Washington’s Demond Williams Jr.

As anticipation grows for Tuesday’s announcement of the O’Brien Quarterback of the Week from this week’s Great 8 roster, all eyes will also be on the Rebels. While Lane Kiffin has yet to confirm his starting quarterback ahead of Saturday’s clash with LSU, Chambliss has certainly made a compelling case during his time relieving Austin Simmons.

The Davey O’Brien Foundation has been recognizing excellence in college football since its inception in 1977. The National Quarterback Award—first awarded in 1981—is celebrated as one of the oldest and most prestigious honors for collegiate quarterbacks. Over its history, the foundation has distributed more than $1.3 million in scholarships and grants aimed at empowering high school and college athletes to transform their leadership skills both on and off the field.
