Trinidad Chambliss and the Ole Miss Rebels just took an early lead over No. 9 Georgia, with Chambliss eluding and outracing defenders to the pylon for a touchdown. The score came with just over 5 minutes remaining the first quarter.
Chambliss has not been Ole Miss’s starter all season, but the below touchdown is still his 4th rushing score of the year. This one was good from 7 yards out:
This is the start Ole Miss fans wanted to see following a performance that Chambliss would say was far from his best last week against Washington State. Chambliss is 6-9 with 48 passing yards to start this one, and the Rebels will need a lot more if they’re to pull off another upset over the Bulldogs.
Chambliss’s dual-threat nature has paid instant dividends for the Ole Miss offense. Not only is the former Ferris State QB a talented throw of the football, but he currently sits 3rd in the SEC among quarterbacks with 46.8 rushing yards per game heading into Week 8.
The Bulldogs didn’t take long to move the ball down the field the ensuing drive. Georgia QB Gunner Stockton will be looking to take back the lead when the 2nd quarter kicks off.
