Tua Tagovailoa provides update on injured ankle, admits ‘it was definitely sore’ after Oklahoma game
If Tua Tagovailoa’s ankle was bothering him against Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, he certainly didn’t show it Saturday night.
In case you missed his performance, Alabama’s quarterback turned in arguably his finest performance to date, completing 24 of his 27 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns. What Tua is doing on the field has become more and more absurd as the season has gone on but finishing with more touchdowns than incompletions in a College Football Playoff game is something we may never see again.
Despite how well Tua played over the weekend, he can’t escape questions regarding the status of his ankle, which he injured in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia. After the Orange Bowl, Tua was spotted leaving the stadium in a walking boot.
“Yeah, you know, after the game, it was definitely sore. I couldn’t tell if it was any better or if it was the same. But I guess I can say it’s better,” Tagovailoa said during Alabama’s Monday teleconference. “I have treatment going on right now, as we speak, and I think we’re still going to stick with that 24-hour treatment protocol. Up until the game, I think I’m still going to be getting treatment, and I’m still going to be going through rehab and therapy, as well. But I definitely think it’s improving, you know.”
Actions speak louder than words and based on what Tua showed against Oklahoma, the Alabama quarterback will be fine entering next Monday’s national championship game against Clemson.
