Tua Tagovailoa first Iron Bowl as Alabama’s starting quarterback was one for the books – Alabama’s record books.
Tagovailoa was responsible for six of the Crimson Tide’s seven touchdowns in a 52-21 thumping of arch-rival Auburn. The six touchdowns (five passing, one rushing) are a new school record. The five passing scores also tie a school record.

It was Tagovailoa’s fifth time throwing for four or more touchdowns in a season, tying AJ McCarron’s record. It was also his fifth 300-yard passing performance on the year (a record he already held at four).
Another UA record could fall in the SEC Championship Game. Former QB Blake Sims holds the single-season record for passing yards, 3,487 (2014). Tagovailoa is just under 300 yards behind at 3,189.
