Tulsa is attempting to set a world record before the school’s football game against the Rice Owls this weekend.
The University of Tulsa has partnered with Anheuser-Busch and Tulsa Oktoberfest to try for a Guinness Book of World Record for the World’s Largest Beer Tasting. The event will take place a couple of hours before kickoff at the Chapman Commons.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this remarkable endeavor,” says University of Tulsa President Brad R. Carson. “TU is Tulsa’s university and we have always stood for excellence, innovation and pushing boundaries. This record attempt is a testament to our commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for our students and community.”
The current beer tasting world record is 1,243 people, set in Barcelona, Spain back in 2022.
Participation in the event is free of cost and participants must taste 3 beers a piece. Reduced-priced tickets to the football game, tickets to Oktoberfest and a limited supply of University of Tulsa steins are available for purchase at TUBreaksRecords.com
After the event, the Golden Hurricane will be looking to improve to 2-1 in conference play. The team sits at 3-3 overall, which is the same record the Owls are sitting at. The Golden Hurrican will be well-rested coming off of their bye week. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Eastern on Thursday.
