Ohio State’s misfortune could soon benefit one Southeastern Conference program as one of the nation’s top overall prospects in the 2021 recruiting cycle announced his decommitment from the Buckeyes on Tuesday.

Four-star defensive lineman Tunmise Adeleye of IMG Academy (Adeleye is originally from Texas) backed off his commitment to Ohio State with the following message:

“The opportunity to play at Ohio State has always been a dream of mine, and I can’t thank the staff enough for believing in my abilities and rewarding me with a scholarship offer. This experience has been nothing but a good one, and I have nothing but love for Coach (Larry) Johnson on my end. However, with that being said, I feel it’s best of me to decommit from Ohio State at this time.”

Adeleye originally committed to Ohio State on April 15.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Adeleye is currently the nation’s highest-rated four-star prospect as 247Sports Composite Rankings list him as the No. 30 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 4 strongside defensive end in the country.

For what it’s worth, when official scholarship offers went out on Aug. 1, Adeleye tweeted out three offers among the likely dozens that were sent his way that day. The elite prospect shared offers sent his way by Alabama, Florida and Texas A&M. Interestingly, Ohio State was not among the offers he shared online.

If that’s an indication of where his recruitment is at the moment, those three programs have every reason to love where they stand with one of the top defensive lineman prospects in the country.
