Arkansas adds former Buffalo, Kansas coach Turner Gill to Chad Morris’ Razorback staff

Turner Gill is finally headed to the SEC.
You may recall Gill was at one point rumored to be in the conversation to become Auburn’s head coach, that job eventually went to Gene Chizik, but while that didn’t work out in Gill’s favor, he’s finally found his way to the nation’s best college football conference.
Arkansas announced on Thursday that the former Liberty, Kansas and Buffalo head coach has joined Chad Morris’ Razorbacks staff and will serve as the executive director of student-athlete and staff development in Fayetteville.
Gill was the first coach in Buffalo history to lead the program to the MAC Championship. Before getting into coaching, Gill was a highly successful quarterback at Nebraska, where he finished his career as an All-American and Heisman Trophy finalist.
“I am thrilled to become a part of the Razorback family,” Gill said in an official release from the school. “When I retired from head coaching, I knew that I still wanted to be involved in athletics in some way. This job could not have been more perfect for what I believe I was called to do. It is a blessing to be able to work with student-athletes to prepare them for success both on and off the field, for the rest of their lives.”
Chad Morris also offered up a comment on the hiring of Gill:
“Adding someone with Turner’s experience and knowledge to our staff is going to provide a tremendous boost for our student-athletes and our staff. From his time as a player at Nebraska to working in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers to serving as a head coach, he has so much to offer our athletes, coaches and staff. We’re excited for him to be a Razorback and have him help build our culture.”
