Twinning: Appalachian State apparently hires coaches based on appearance alone

If you didn’t know Appalachian State recently made a coaching change, simply looking at the team’s new head man wouldn’t clue you in.

That’s because the newly hired Eliah Drinkwitz looks eerily similar to departed coach Scott Satterfield, at least in a tweet shared by App State Traditions on Thursday.

First, an edited picture of Drinkwitz wearing Appalachian State gear used the by the team to announce his hiring:

Then, a photo of Satterfield, making almost the exact same expression while also wearing glasses and a black Mountaineers visor:

That’s the same guy, right?

Somehow, those are two different people. Drinkwitz comes to Appalachian State after a stint as North Carolina State’s offensive coordinator, while Satterfield left to replace Bobby Petrino at Louisville.

Maybe the Mountaineers wanted a replica of Satterfield, considering he led the program to 51 wins and three Sun Belt titles over six years while overseeing its leap from FCS to FBS.

Or maybe Appalachian State administrators just have a type.
