Twitter has some fun with Kentucky’s decision to sell its naming rights to Kroger

If you missed the big news from Lexington Monday, Kentucky has announced its football stadium will no longer be known as Commonwealth Stadium. The school announced a sponsored partnership with supermarket chain Kroger to change the stadium’s name to Kroger Field 44 years after opening the structure.

The price for the new change, per Jennifer Smith of Kentucky Sports, Kentucky $1.85 million annually for 12 years. The stadium has yet to be given new lettering, however, that is expected to be done in the near future. At this time, Kentucky does not have plans to sell sponsorship rights to Rupp Arena.

Of course, it didn’t take long for social media to react to the news. The majority of the reaction hasn’t been particularly favorable.
