Peter Sirmon is out and Todd Grantham is in when it comes to Mississippi State’s defensive coordinator position.
Grantham has outstanding experience at the highest level, spending 11 seasons in the NFL and the last six as a DC in college. All three of his defenses at Louisville (2014-16) finished inside the top 20 in total defense — a welcoming stat for MSU fans, considering recent history.
In one season with the Bulldogs, Sirmon led a defense that ranked 13th out of 14 SEC teams in scoring (31.8 points allowed per game) and 12th in total yards (459.1).
We’ve gathered some Twitter reactions on coach Dan Mullen’s big hire, which has garnered plenty of positive reviews:

For Mississippi State, the amount of DC turnover should be concerning.
That being said, Todd Grantham feels like upgrade.
