Two similar instances had very different outcomes for two former SEC players.
Former Ole Miss DB Senquez Golson, who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was found at an Alabama airport with a Glock handgun and 23 bullets in his carry-on bag when he attempted to go through security, according to TMZ.
Golson was not arrested for the incident, and cops even offered to hold the pistol until he returned from traveling.
Golson’s NFL career hasn’t exactly panned out the way he wanted. The former second-round pick hasn’t even played in a game yet due to shoulder and ankle injuries. During his Ole Miss career, Golson made 136 tackles, six tackles for loss, 16 INTs and scored one touchdown.
However, former Florida WR Louis Murphy didn’t experience the same outcome. Murphy was caught and arrested for felony possession of a concealed firearm at the Tampa International Airport for illegally carrying a concealed weapon, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The firearm was discovered at a security checkpoint, and he was released on $2,000 bond Wednesday afternoon.
Murphy didn’t play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, and he was released in November. He played for the Gators from 2005-08.
