Ty Simpson has made his intentions for the fall of 2026 official — the former Alabama star quarterback is heading to the NFL Draft, officially signing the necessary paperwork, according to a report by On3 on Tuesday afternoon.

Simpson had recently made it known that he was declaring for this spring’s draft, but that didn’t stop interested collegiate programs from checking in, just to see if Simpson would change his mind.

According to Tuesday’s On3 report, Simpson received “lofty offers” from colleges to say no to the NFL and return to college football in 2026, despite the fact that he had declared for the draft. Nothing was official then, but it reportedly is now, as the signal-caller who took over as Alabama’s starter last fall and led the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff is heading off to play on Sundays this fall.

Simpson would be signing his 2026 NFL Draft paperwork just one day before the deadline for underclassmen to officially enter the draft.

Simpson was stellar this past fall in his one and only season as Alabama’s starting quarterback, with the Tennessee native throwing for 3,567 yards to go with 28 touchdown passes and just 5 interceptions.
