Kentucky baseball is getting quite the boon this week against The Citadel. Preseason All-American IF Tyler Bell has been medically cleared to return for hitting and baserunning, but not for play on defense. With that said, expect Bell to get a designated hitter nod against The Citadel.
Bell was injured in Kentucky’s season opener against UNC Greensboro and hope to inject some consistent offense for a Kentucky team that, while it has been great to start the season, has been a little sluggish at the plate.
Bell was named a D1Baseball 3rd team All-American as a sophomore following a standout freshman season with the Wildcats. Appearing in all 56 games, Bell averaged .296 and recorded 67 hits, 17 doubles and 10 home runs.
Kentucky has had a strong start to the season, despite being without Bell. The Wildcats are 11-2 on the year and have flashed some truly excellent pitching, especially so from Jaxon Jelkin and Nate Harris. Kentucky will face off against The Citadel with first pitch set for Friday at 4 p.m.
Kentucky has just a 2% chance to win the national title this season, per Kalshi. Here’s a look at some of the top odds as of early March:
