The UCF Knights football program just got some truly devastating news as the team announced the passing of offensive line coach Shawn Clark on Monday morning via their official X account.

Just 50 years old, Clark tragically passed away on Sunday following an undisclosed medical emergency he suffered earlier this month. Clark, who was in his first season with the Knights as their OL coach, is survived by his wife and their 2 children.

UCF head coach Scott Frost penned a tribute to his assistant and friend on X, saying that Clark was “a remarkable man, husband, and father who cared deeply about his players and his staff.”

Knight’s Athletic Director Terry Mohajir also released a statement on the official UCF X account, expressing his condolences to Clark’s family, and saying that “he brought passion, integrity, and a genuine love for people to whatever he did.”

Prior to his joining Frost’s staff at UCF, Clark was the head coach of his alma mater, the Appalachian State Mountaineers, from 2020-24, leading them to a 40-24 overall record, 3-1 bowl game record, and a 2021 Sun Belt Conference East Division title.
