UCF brags about lack of state income taxes, spawns hilarious recruiting chain

Welcome to the modern era of college football, where programs tweet “re-signed” graphics in the offseason and programs brag about a lack of state income taxes.

That last one is a new one. Freshly new. On Saturday morning, Central Florida tweeted out a recruiting graphic with a caption, “just a reminder.” The graphic shows the UCF mascot holding up a bag of cash, and it says “no state income tax” with a hashtag that reads “the more you know.”

So… that’s where we’re at.

But UCF probably didn’t expect its recruiting pitch to help some others out. Tennessee, Texas, and Washington are the only other states in the country that house power conference teams and don’t have state income tax.

And several schools from the state of Texas hopped on the train.

Houston did it.

And Baylor joined in.

Then UNLV, out of the Mountain West, jumped into the fray.

Then North Texas cooked up its own graphic.

Then, FIU joined the fun, adding that, in addition to no state income tax, it also has a beach.

TCU also jumped in, adding that it has lots of sunshine and convenient access to Buc-ee’s, which might matter a great deal to certain people.

In this era of college football, with the fluidity of the transfer portal and the, shall we say, loose enforcement of recruiting rules, every little bit helps.

Naturally, there was a program that isn’t necessarily part of the club, but wanted in on the action anyway.
