UCF defensive back Braeden Marshall appeared to return an interception back for a touchdown in the fourth quarter against Iowa State on Saturday night to give his team an 8-point lead.

However, Marshall dropped the ball prior to crossing the goal line. Here’s video of the incident:

This is far from the first time this has happened in college football. In this case, UCF ended up coming out of this would-be disaster OK. Iowa State didn’t recover Marshall’s fumble, so the Knights retained possession at the Iowa State 1-yard line after a review.

UCF’s RJ Harvey scored a touchdown from the 1-yard line to make it 35-27 on the very next play.

That would have been UCF’s second pick-6 of the night, as Gus Malzahn’s defense also produced a defensive score back in the second quarter.

UCF appeared to be heading toward arguably its biggest win of the season after taking an 8-point lead on the Cyclones. However, Iowa State scored 11 straight points after that UCF touchdown to take a 38-35 lead in Ames with just 30 seconds remaining.
