The UFL gives football fans all across the country the opportunity to watch football in the spring. The league has been at the forefront in making some rules changes, most notably the change on kickoffs that the NFL recently adapted.

On Tuesday, the UFL announced that there would be a new 4-point field goal in an order to ‘move the game of football forward’.

The exact rule is that a team will be awarded 4-points for making a field over 60 yards. This comes at a time when kickers are making more field goals from long distance than ever before. In 2024, NFL kickers were 4-of-15 on field goals of at least 60 yards. However, in 2025, kickers were 12-of-22, with Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little making kicks from 67 and 68 last season.

Another interesting rule that the UFL announced is that teams will be unable to punt the ball from inside their opponents 50-yard line unless it is in the final two minutes of each half.

Football is a sport that is always evolving, and the UFL has done a great job of looking at situations and trying things that may be outside the box.
