The UFL kicked off its 2026 season on Friday night with its 2024 champions, the Birmingham Stallions, traveling to the Bluegrass State to face the expansion Louisville Kings in their first-ever game. The contest itself was a somewhat sluggish affair, but halftime provided some fireworks (and no, we’re not talking about the Russell Dickerson show).
As the Stallions were headed back to the locker room for halftime, Kings fans booed them. Birmingham wide receiver Justyn Ross, a former Clemson Tiger and Kansas City Chief, took exception to what he heard. After some jawing, he grabbed a drink and slung its contents into the crowd. Moments later, a fan returned the favor. Ross was not happy, and needed to be held back by teammates following the retaliatory action.
Ross wound up having the last laugh. He only made 2 catches for 30 yards in the game, but his last grab was a game-winning 14-yard touchdown. The pass came from former Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral, who threw for 208 yards and that score.
On the other side, Jason Bean — a former Kansas signal-caller — racked up 253 total yards, 1 touchdown pass and 2 interceptions. Kentucky legend Benny Snell, suiting up for Louisville, had 5 carries for 12 yards.
The Stallions take on the Houston Gamblers in Week 2 (Apr. 5, 6:00 p.m. E.T., NFL Network). Meanwhile, the Kings hit the road for the first time to play Orlando (Apr. 4, 8:00 p.m. E.T., ESPN).
