Last summer, Georgia approved the proposal for a $30 million state-of-the-art indoor practice facility. Construction began in January — following the Bulldogs’ 10-3 (5-3) season — and now construction is well underway.
Athens Banner-Herald writer Marc Weiszer was at the scene on Wednesday morning and provided a quick update on the progress that’s been made to date:

“The Indoor Athletic Facility will be located on the Woodruff Practice Fields and will be connected to Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall,” read Georgia’s initial press release back in August, 2015. “The connection of the Indoor Athletic Facility to the current facility entails the removal of the Nalley Multipurpose Room and the renovation of approximately 6,000 square feet of adjacent space.
“The facility will be programmed for maximum functionality, as it will be approximately 140 yards long, 80 yards wide and 76 feet high, adding nearly 109,000 square feet of space.”
