The SEC has just announced the kickoff times and television coverage for each Week 9 league game.
The marquee games of the Oct. 29 weekend feature several interesting notes:
In his head coaching career, Will Muschamp has never lost to Tennessee after going 4-0 against the Vols during his Florida years. On the flip side, Butch Jones has never lost to South Carolina following his first three seasons with Tennessee. The last four meetings between these two schools have all been decided by three or fewer points.
The matchup of friends and former high school coaches Hugh Freeze and Gus Malzahn has made the Auburn-Ole Miss rivalry a fun one in recent seasons. Freeze has a 2-2 overall record against Auburn (his record drops to 1-2 against Malzahn). One of those losses came in the closing moments of the 2014 game after Laquon Treadwell injured his leg while inching close to the goal line before ultimately fumbling just before scoring.
Florida has won the last two against Georgia, while also giving the Bulldogs its final defeat of the 2015 season. Mark Richt’s failures to consistently beat the Gators was seemingly one of the biggest factors in his firing, leading to the beginning of the Kirby Smart era. Any heat Smart may be feeling after losing to Vanderbilt will be immediately elevated should the Bulldogs win in Jacksonville for the first time since 2013.
