With eight SEC spring games already completed, here are the announced attendance numbers so far:

  1. Florida Gators 48,000
  2. Auburn Tigers 46,331
  3. Kentucky Wildcats 37,172
  4. Texas A&M Aggies 21,000
  5. Mississippi State Bulldogs 16,630
  6. Missouri Tigers 16,457
  7. South Carolina Gamecocks 12,345
  8. Ole Miss Rebels 8,000

Announced attendance is always hard to take as absolutely true, but it’s interesting how much variance there is between Nos. 1 and 8.

Florida and Kentucky went with a Friday Night Lights theme, which many predicted could affect their attendance by playing on Friday. The Gators’ numbers are quite high, and the 48,000 announced attendance is an estimated number. Kentucky put up a respectable crowd total as well, ranking third with 37,172; however, Kentucky’s 37,172 reflects “tickets distributed.” So, we don’t really know the real number from Lexington. Kentucky’s announced attendance was roughly 9,000 more than last year.

Remember, South Carolina’s 12,345 attendance fell on the same day as the basketball team’s Final Four game. It’s likely that number could have been higher.

The puzzling total on this list is Ole Miss, who played on the same Saturday as Auburn, Mississippi State and Texas A&M. The Rebels announced a total of 8,000 to SDS via email, and they’d have little reason to intentionally deflate the number.
