Urban Meyer: Alabama is the model for everyone, not just the SEC

With a 65-16 record in six seasons at Florida and a 61-6 record in five seasons at Ohio State, there’s no debating the consistent success of Urban Meyer-coached teams. Meyer has three national championship rings of his own, but in 2017, he’s still asked to compare his program to Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide as a measuring stick of consistency.
“I’m very pleased,” Meyer recently said when asked to compare what he’s built at OSU to the Tide. “When you start with Alabama, I think every school in the country would say that. It’s a very consistent model. I’d like to think after five years we’re one of those programs that people look at for consistency. We haven’t won enough championships, et cetera, but we’re consistently in the conversation, in the hunt in November. That’s our goal. Ohio State should be.”
Ohio State, like Alabama, is a blue chip program with rich history and tradition. What Saban and Meyer have accomplished in their careers will be talked about for a long, long time. Each have done it their own way and paved their way to success.
The Meyer-Saban rivalry is one of the greatest in college football, and the two coaching giants of consistency are sure to clash again soon.
