Urban Meyer announces QB coach Ryan Day turned down SEC head coaching opportunity

It looks like Greg Schiano is not the only Ohio State assistant that was being looked at for a head coaching position in the SEC this season.
Urban Meyer made the claim Wednesday that Buckeyes QB coach Ryan Day turned down the opportunity to be an SEC head coach. Meyer did not elaborate on which opening he turned down, but it is an interesting note nonetheless.
It should be noted that reporter Bruce Feldman had listed Day as one of the names to watch when the Mississippi State job came available. That was speculation, but Day, like Dan Mullen, shares the common denominator of having worked with Urban Meyer.
Day served as a graduate assistant on Meyer’s 2005 Florida team and became the QB coach at OSU before the 2017 season. He also served on Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles staff in 2015 and San Francisco 49ers staff in 2016.
