You can now wager on whether Urban Meyer will resign from Ohio State due to ‘health issues’
Many SEC fans have a tradition of mocking Urban Meyer and his alleged health issues ever since he used that excuse to step away from the Florida football program back in 2009, only to return a few weeks later. Of course, a year later he stepped away from the job in Gainesville for good, citing the need to spend time with his family before quickly returning to the sidelines in Columbus less than a calendar year later.
Now that Meyer faces the biggest challenge of his Ohio State career following his paid administrative leave handed out by the school when he was publicly exposed as a liar and potentially an enabler of the domestic abuse his former assistant coach Zach Smith has been accused of carrying out in both Gainesville and Columbus, there’s a chance Meyer’s promising career comes to an end at another school.
This time, however, you can wager on the excuse Meyer will give should he decide to do what appears to be the right thing and step away from his job once again. Online sportsbook MyBookie has odds posted on whether Meyer will claim “health issues” as the reason he decides to step away from Ohio State — as he did years earlier at Florida.
Based on these odds, it doesn’t appear the sportsbook expects this to happen, but it would be a nice payout if Meyer used the familiar excuse once again. Who knows, should the Ohio State coach step away from his job in Columbus to take care of his health, he’ll probably land on his feet well before it’s time to kick off for the 2019 season.
