Thanks to upset wins over two No. 1 ranked teams at home last November, Auburn was elevated from a national championship pretender to a national championship contender in a span of two weeks. However, now both of those games are on the road in 2018 and will be played against teams looking to even the (regular season) score.

In a recent post by Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports, Auburn’s upcoming games against Georgia and Alabama were selected as the biggest games on the schedule for the two programs that met in last season’s National Championship Game.

Of course, last season, Auburn defeated Georgia 40-17 on Nov. 11. The Dawgs got their revenge in the SEC Championship Game, beating the Tigers by a 28-7 margin. The Tigers won the latest edition of the Iron Bowl by the Crimson Tide 26 to 14.

Georgia now hosts Auburn on Nov. 10 and Alabama hosts Auburn on Nov. 24.

You could easily argue that Georgia’s biggest game will come much earlier in the season as a trip to Columbia looms on Sept. 8. The winner of that game should have a decisive advantage towards winning the East division this year. Considering Auburn’s rugged slate this season, it seems unlikely they come to Athens as an undefeated team.

Two other SEC teams were mentioned on the list, as Washington’s season opener in Atlanta against Auburn was mentioned as the Huskies’ biggest game and Miami’s season opener in Arlington against LSU was named as the Hurricane’s biggest game.
