Alex Golesh has found his special teams coordinator at USF, and it’s a name he has plenty of familiarity with.

The Bulls’ 1st-year head coach, fresh off a successful 2-year spell as the Volunteers’ offensive coordinator, has hired Vols defensive analyst Chad Creamer to oversee special teams and outside linebackers. USF announced the news on Thursday evening.

“I have had the opportunity to work with Chad at two previous programs and he is one of the hardest workers I have ever been around,” Golesh said in a statement released by the university. “He has terrific experience coaching linebackers and special teams, having served as a coordinator at three different levels of college football, and I am very excited he and his family are joining our Bulls family in Tampa as we build one of the most aggressive defenses in the country.”

Creamer was in Knoxville for 1 season. Before that, he was the defensive coordinator at Division II Shorter College, while also coaching linebackers. That followed stops at FCS Davidson as DC and LBs coach and a brief stop at Cincinnati.

He was on the Illinois staff in 2012, the same year Golesh joined the Illini as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator.
