Utah releases depth chart with starting QB for season-opener vs. Florida
Utah has released its depth chart for its season-opener against Florida in Week 1.
Per the depth chart, veteran quarterback Cam Rising will start under center against the Gators. Rising’s status has been in-question during fall camp as he continues to recover from an ACL he injury he suffered at the end of last season.

Rising’s presence on the depth chart doesn’t necessarily confirm his status for the game. Earlier this weekend, Rising himself admitted that he wasn’t sure if he would be cleared to play in Week 1 or not.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham has described Rising as “limited” throughout fall camp. It’s unclear how much practice he’s been able to participate in this offseason.
Rising is Utah’s undisputed starter if healthy. He led the Utes to the Pac-12 Championship last season. In his last 2 years as the starter, Rising has thrown for over 5,500 yards and 46 touchdowns.
If Rising ends up not being able to play, it appears the Gators will face junior Bryson Barnes. He’s listed as Rising’s backup on the depth chart. Barnes has completed 66.1% of his passes for 453 yards, 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in limited playing time during his career.
Florida and Utah will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Aug. 31.
