Vanderbilt has had to make some changes on Clark Lea’s coaching staff this offseason after losing a couple of assistants to other jobs.

One vacant position was in the secondary, but it appears the Commodores are narrowing in on a hire there.

Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Commodores are looking to hire Northern Illinois assistant Dan Jackson to coach the secondary. Per Thamel, Jackson was the Huskies’ CB coach, defensive pass game coordinator and co-special teams coach:

Jackson joined the Huskies’ staff prior to the 2020 season. Prior to his time at Northern Illinois, he spent 8 years on the South Dakota State staff in the FCS ranks.

The Jackrabbits made it to the FCS playoffs all 8 years Jackson was on staff.
