Vanderbilt has proven to be difficult for Alabama to deal with on Saturday evening.
The Commodores jumped out to an early 13-0 lead over the Crimson Tide and they haven’t let up yet. After Alabama scored on its first drive of the second half, Vanderbilt responded with a score of its own.
Facing a 4th and 1, quarterback Diego Pavia found Junior Sherrill for a 36-yard touchdown to extend Vanderbilt’s edge to 30-21.

Win or lose, this has been a remarkable performance from Vanderbilt. The Commodores are seeking to become the first unranked team to defeat an AP No. 1 overall team since then-No. 1 Alabama lost to Texas A&M in 2021.
Vanderbilt has already made history in this game. When the Commodores jumped out to a 7-0 edge in the first quarter, they claimed their first lead over Alabama of any kind since 2007. It was also their first touchdown scored against the Crimson Tide since the 2007 season.
Vanderbilt has not defeated Alabama since 1984.
