Vanderbilt received its 16th commitment of the 2021 recruiting cycle as Fort Lauderdale, Fla. product Quincy Skinner Jr. pledged to Derek Mason and the Commodores on Tuesday. He announced the commitment on his Twitter account.
“This journey has been hard and [there’s] been some stumbling blocks but I was taught to get motivated through adversity and keep my head held high,” he posted. “I dreamed of this moment and how it will feel and I can tell you it’s great.”
According to 247Sports, Skinner is a 3-star recruit, rated as the No. 79 wide receiver in the country by the site’s Composite Rankings. Kentucky was one of 2 SEC offers he received, while Maryland, Miami, N.C. State and Purdue were among other programs that extended offers.
Skinner joins current St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) teammates cornerback Tyson Russell and offensive lineman Gunnar Hansen in the Commodores’ 2021 recruiting class. The trio will join former Aquinas linebacker Griffin Lampton, who signed with Vandy last year.
