Vanderbilt was the only SEC team to not reach bowl eligibility in 2021. That’s not stopping the Commodores from trolling their in-state rivals over a bowl loss.

Tennessee lost to Purdue 48-45 in Thursday night’s Music City Bowl, played in Nashville at Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans. VU reminded UT of the teams that won games in Nashville this season with a postgame tweet.

Tennessee is on a 3-game winning streak in the rivalry with Vanderbilt. On Nov. 27, Josh Heupel’s squad got the better of Clark Lea and company in the battle of first-year head coaches, a 45-21 win for UT. The Vols won the 2020 game in Nashville 42-17.

Many Tennessee fans pointed out that Vanderbilt Athletics left off a team to win in Nashville: East Tennessee State. ETSU, an FCS program, defeated the Dores 23-3 at Vanderbilt Stadium in Week 1. Stanford, Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri and Kentucky also won football games at Vanderbilt in 2021.
