Vegas may like Auburn over LSU, but history suggests a Bayou Bengals win on Saturday

Auburn is a 7-point favorite heading into Baton Rouge on Saturday to face LSU.
Vegas may like the Tigers from Auburn, but a handful of historical statistics point toward a potential LSU win. If history tends to repeat itself, that could be good news for fans of the Bayou Bengals.
One key stat — the home team has won 15 of the last 17 games in this annual series, per Phil Steele’s 2017 college football preview magazine.
Moreover, as SEC Network studio anchor Peter Burns points out, Auburn hasn’t necessarily been “clutch” as a Top 10 team playing in Death Valley:
One that I found interesting.
Auburn has gone to Baton Rouge 3 times while ranked in Top 10. Lost all 3 games, 2x LSU was unranked.

And perhaps most interesting … Auburn hasn’t won in Baton Rouge since 1999. Despite having more talented teams on multiple occasions, it has been 18 years since War Eagle got the job done at LSU.
In that time frame, three teams from the state of Alabama have won in Baton Rouge. It’s kind of crazy to think Auburn isn’t one of them:
FBS Teams from State of Alabama at LSU – Since 2000
Alabama 5-4
UAB 1-1
Troy 1-2
