Tennessee head coach Butch Jones rewarded tight end Alex Ellis with a scholarship Monday. Ellis, who began as a practice squad member during his first two seasons and redshirted in 2013, recorded six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in his first season of action.
The redshirt junior made one start and appeared in 12 games for the Vols in 2014. Ellis caught his first career touchdown on a 31-yard pass from holder Patrick Ashford on a fake field goal against Missouri.
The best gift you can ever give an athlete is a scholarship to The University of Tenn, today Alex Ellis earned one! http://t.co/h12StEaHgD
