Legendary CBS announcer Verne Lundquist ended his SEC broadcasting career last weekend by calling Alabama’s blowout victory over Florida in the SEC Championship Game.

This Saturday, Lundquist said goodbye to all of college football following the annual Army-Navy game.

In the above video, an emotional Lundquist thanks the CBS staff, his broadcast partners and his wife, Nancy, while trying his best to hold back tears.

Lundquist has been announcing college football for 17 years and will be replaced in the booth by Brad Nessler in 2017.

However, as Uncle Verne reminds us at the end of the video, he’s not done with his broadcast career just yet. You can still hear him during the March Madness college basketball tournament and at The Masters, where he calls the action from Hole No. 16.

Still, SEC Saturdays will sound a little bit different without Lundquist next year.
