Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross is about as SEC as it gets.

Born in Georgia, Ross played baseball for both Auburn and Florida during his college career.

On Wednesday, in his last professional game, he hit a home run in Game 7 of the World Series, extending the Cubs’ lead to 6-3.

If the Cubs end up holding on and winning their first World Series since 1908, Ross’s final game should go down in history (alongside another SEC great in Peyton Manning) as one of the best last games in sports history.

Ross transferred from Auburn to Florida because the Tigers had a starter returning that would block Ross from being in the lineup every day.

Ross also won a World Series in 2013 as a member of the Boston Red Sox.
