Despite the fact that stopping the run remains the most critical part to success on defense, former Alabama defensive lineman and run-stuffer extraordinaire Jarran Reed fell all the way to No. 49 in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Reeds’ drops was the Seattle Seahawks’ gain however, as the rookie is already looking like one of the team’s top run defenders during the preseason. Reed put on a show in the most recent preseason game, putting in some man’s work Thursday night against the Vikings.

Watch as the rookie defender completely whoops the offensive lineman trying to block him on multiple occasions and finishes the play by bringing down Minnesota’s running back:

Looks like the Seahawks defense isn’t falling from its perch as one of the NFL’s best any time soon thanks to talented young players like Reed being on the roster.
