Video: Kirby Smart explains why he wasn’t close with Will Muschamp at Georgia

Georgia coach Kirby Smart and South Carolina coach Will Muschamp, both in their first years at the helm of their respective schools, have something else in common, too.
They both played defensive back at Georgia in the 1990s, overlapping by one year.
That might lead some to speculate that the coaches are close with one another, but, ahead of this weekend’s matchup between the schools, Smart explained why that’s not the case.
Smart was a freshman in 1994, when Muschamp was a fifth-year senior, so the “little prick on scout team” likely didn’t interact all that much with the “big man on campus.”
They’ll interact plenty before and after Saturday’s game, which is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time in Columbia, unless it’s delayed or postponed by Hurricane Matthew, which is expected to hit the U.S. this weekend.
